The Buddha, His Life, and Teachings is written by Ven. Piyadassi Thera. Piyadassi Maha Thera (Sinhala:, 8 July 1914 – 18 August 1998) is most recognized as a renowned preacher of the Dhamma, both in Sinhala and in English, and it was in this arena that he gained the most fame. He was born on July 8, 1914, in Kotahena, Colombo, Sri Lanka, and received his education at Nalanda College in Colombo, then at the University of Sri Lanka and the Harvard University Center for the Study of World Religions as a research student.
