Sixty Songs of Milarepa is translated by Garma C.C. Chang. All of the songs in this collection are about the Dharma, which is shared by all Buddhist traditions. Vangisa Thera stood out among the Bhikkhus of the Buddha's time for his inspired statements.
The mind, inspired and enlightened by the knowledge of liberation, effortlessly pours forth its wisdom in the form of beautiful and profound poetry. This was the situation with Lord Buddha and a few of his closest students, and it was also the case with Milarepa later on.
