A Taste of Salt is written by Mark Breneman. Over 2,000 years ago, the Pali language was used to write the Sutta Pitaka. The Digha Nikaya, Majjima Nikaya, Samyutta Nikaya, Anguttara Nikaya, and Khuddaka Nikaya are the five sutta collections in the Sutta Pitaka.
These scriptures continue to be the most comprehensive collection of early Buddhist teachings. The suttas are hundreds of pages long, and reading them all is a daunting endeavor for most people. From the roughly 5,000 pages of the Sutta Pitaka, A Taste of Salt extracts 350 pages presenting the Buddha's primary teachings.
The goal of this collection is to make these important Buddhist writings more accessible to Buddhist meditators and students.
